In November 2007 the Bongo Surveillance Team were awarded the EAWL Michael Werikhe trophy in recognition for their conservation achievements to date. The EAWS Michael Werikhe trophy winner is awarded annually by Rhino Ark's Rhino Charge Committee. The Bongo team were recognized for "exemplary work in tracking and monitoring the rare and elusive Mountain Bongo (Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci) in the Aberdare and adjacent areas". The award was presented on November 3rd by Rhino Ark's Execuite Director Mr. Ali Kaka.
